This course delves into the construction and troubleshooting of networks tailored for church production. As our worship services and events increasingly depend on networked systems, a solid grasp of IP technology is becoming essential for church production teams, including staff and volunteers. You’ll discover the benefits and workflows of various network media technologies, such as Dante, NDI, sACN, among other protocols. The course also offers practical troubleshooting strategies to identify and resolve common network issues. Combining theoretical knowledge, simulated environments, and real-world case studies, you’ll be well-equipped to navigate the shift towards predominantly IP-based production workflows in the church setting.
This intensive will educate you on the importance of loudspeaker directivity and its impact on room acoustics through the use of cardioid loudspeaker systems. Typically we think of the term cardioid in relation to microphones, but do loudspeakers truly have a cardioid pattern? Using the newest line array tech from d&b audiotechnik we will experiment and explore how loudspeakers behave from their lowest frequencies throughout their entire bandwidth. Other topics include basic line array theory and loudspeaker design. Come ready to get your hands dirty with live examples and leave equipped to evaluate how a line array behaves! This will be one of the first opportunities in the world to get hands-on with the new d&b audiotechnik CCL System line array.
Just as an audio mix is determined by its audience, so too must video be aligned with the needs of the viewers. Directing for I-Mag is as different from Broadcast as mixing for FOH is from MON world. In this class, we will delve into the methods of directing for broadcast, whether in the TV construct or the live stream realm of today. Each ministry must choose and embrace a look, flow, and intentionality in order to convey a cohesive message where the video supports and enhances the Word instead of distracting from its delivery. From framing, focusing, lighting, pushing, and pulling to shading and movement, you will gain a better understanding of the how, and more importantly the why, of broadcast directing.
