MAY 11-12, 2021

Learn about our new FILO 2021 Chicago plan.

FILO 2021 Chicago will be a streamed event, but with a twist! We will live stream the event from Willow Creek in South Barrington, IL on May 11-12 in front of a live studio audience. By then, it will have been 552 days since we’ve gathered together, so if you’re interested and able, we’d love to have you join us for the exclusive live studio audience experience. The stream experience will be the perfect solution for those of you who are unable to travel or gather in groups.

Regardless of how you choose to participate in the event, we cannot wait to join with you for 2 days of communityinspiration and skill development. We’ll still be delivering the same FILO goodness you know and love: 4 main sessions, 50 breakout classes to stretch your minds and hearts, and like-minded technical artists hanging out together, virtually and in person. These have the potential to be the best two days of your entire year!

“It’s clear that the FILO team has a love for the church’s technical artists and a desire for their care, encouragement and development.”

“I love FILO, I love how it brings me closer to God and gives me time to worship. I have been so busy supporting my church with streaming over the past couple of months that I haven’t taken any time for myself, FILO gave me that time.”

“It just keeps getting better and better. I look forward to bringing my team again next year, I cannot begin to put into words the impact this conference has on my team.”

“FILO always leads me to tears and gives me the rest and refreshment I need in order to give my all in my position. Even though this year was online, nothing was different, I cried, I worshipped, I learned.”

“Our team left excited about many of the things they learned and the camaraderie and relationship-building that happens when we get away for two days with several of our volunteers is invaluable.”

“Wonderful experience. I’ve been to Catalyst, Mosaic, Hillsong, and a few others. But none were tailored to be so relatable to me as a tech person. This is special.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is behind FILO Conference?

After the Gurus of Tech conferences came to an end, there was no other event that was laser-focused on the technical artist in the local church. Todd Elliott, the former Technical Arts Director at Willow Creek Community Church, rounded up a team of people to help fill the void and bring you the First In Last Out Conference.

Who is FILO Conference for?

Anyone involved in technology in his or her local church. Audio or lighting, staff or volunteer, beginner or expert, everyone is encouraged to attend. There will be something for everyone. While technical artists are the focus of FILO, worship pastors, music directors, lead pastors, creative directors or anyone who works with technical artists is more than welcome to attend.

Why does it cost so much?

Your registration helps us produce an event worth coming to! We bring in top-notch faculty, who are veterans at getting their hands dirty in the nitty-gritty of production life. Our goal is to create an experience that will refresh and inspire those who come!

Will FILO 2021 Chicago be an in-person event or a streamed event?

FILO 2021 Chicago will be a live-streamed event. There are a limited quantity of live studio audience tickets available for attendees to engage in a VIP experience at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, IL.

What if I purchased a ticket before the announcement was made on February 18th, 2021?

Please email with your name, order number and preference on whether you’d like to attend the live studio audience or the stream.

What safety protocols will FILO and Willow Creek be practicing during the event?

Your safety is our top priority! All attendees and staff will be required to wear face masks and social distance while on the Willow Creek property. Hand sanitizing stations and wipes will be available throughout the venue. All live studio audience participants are required to sign a release form during the registration process. Review the form.

The FILO Core Team

It takes many amazing people to pull off such a great event, many of whom are volunteers! Check out the core team of people who make FILO a success.

Joanne serves as the Production Operations Director and Midweek Producer at Willow Creek's main campus. She started out as a volunteer stagehand at Willow over 34 years ago and joined the staff team about 20 years ago! She's been part of the FILO team since the beginning and absolutely loves playing a part in serving technical artists thru the FILO Conference and whatever else the FILO team cooks up! When she's not working she loves hanging out in her backyard, or better yet, the northwoods of Wisconsin with her family and her adorable pup.
